PUZZLE 107

Puzzle 107 – “On the Rise”

puz here / pdf here / solution here

Words and clues momentarily aside, I just find the grid design of this one really pleasing. It inspired this week’s puzzle title, and I like how that central offset stack of medium-long entries grounds the whole grid.

Favorite clue here: I didn’t go heavy on punny clues on this one, but 31-Across is a good fun fact.

As always, comments are welcome. Hope yall enjoy. Happy solving, folks.

  1. Good one. Took me a minute in the middle. Didn’t know 31 across. Enjoyed 2 down.

    Thanks as always!

  2. This puzzle took me twice as long as usual becuz of my unfamiliarity with several answers. But I slowly sussed things out.
And that’s a great fact about “Don’t mess with Texas”. I’d always thought it had something to do with the Alamo and Texas’ revenge on Santa Anna (aka Antonio de Padua María Severino López de Santa Anna y Pérez de Lebrón, [phew].
