Puzzle 263 – “Arts and Letters”
puz here / pdf here / solution here / full screen here
The title for this one has two parts, and the latter should be obvious… I mean, letters, duh. But this grid is full of art too. The clue for 57-Across, for instance (if not the entry there). 20-Across and 60-Across are pretty artsy. And as far as I’m concerned, the reference point for 12-Down (spoiler at link) is art.
Favorite clue here: gotta be 21-Down. I hope you find it artful, whether or not it seems like art to you.
As always, yall, comments are welcomed. Happy solving. Hope you enjoy, friends.
36 Across was my favourite. Had me scratching my head right up until I had all but 37 down discovered.
I went back and forth on whether that clue needed a question mark, but decided against it since it’s literally true as written.
I’d venture to say that 22-Across has issued some terrific art as well (Otis Redding, the Staples Singers, Booker T and the MGs, etc.) Always a pleasure working your grids.
I’d definitely agree!
Really enjoyed that last acrostic of yours.
good one thanks
had to guess at the crosser of 58D and 60A
i’ve wondered… does anyone ever use 52D in text? or is it just in crosswords… I’m suspecting the latter
52D… I feel like I must have. But maybe in that category of more often in the grids.
