Puzzle 211 – “Something to Chew On”
puz here / pdf here / solution here
The title to this themeless might imply a food-centric puzzle, and there are a few culinary clues in here, but I went with it because, more than usual for me, this grid is what constructors sometimes call a touch “chewy.” There are some surprising combinations of letters in here that may slow you down a touch… but I also tried to keep the cluing on this one relatively straightforward.
Favorite clue: 54-Down, as I always love it when I can get a Devil’s Dictionary reference in here. And if you don’t know 2-Down, please enjoy (spoiler at link, obviously).
As always, comments welcomed. Hope you enjoy. Happy solving, yall.
Interesting fact in 63A… I had no idea! I’m confused by the clue for 20A, though…
Argh, that’s because the word “not” shouldn’t be there. Thanks for the heads-up, correcting it now…
very fun solve – big fan of the stacks in the NW and SE corners
Thanks! 65A was the seed entry here, as I recall.
I’ve gotten way behind in my solving. Happy to get back at it with a Luter puzz! Nice to see a little CanCon in there too. 🙂
Me too! I have a backlog of DCL emails to look through…
That Philly sound never gets old, does it? Thanks for another great puzzle, Matt. Love all the 10ers, and I join Josh in finding 63A interesting.
Indeed! Vinyl collecting has turned me into an MFSB completist. So much good stuff in their catalog.
Enjoyed it very much…thank you!
You’re very welcome! New one here each Tuesday.
good one! thanks!
Glad to, as always.
