Puzzle 196 – “Just Name It”
puz here / pdf here / solution here
Sometimes there’s a good reason why a themeless winds up on this site and doesn’t get submitted anyplace. It can be a little too reliant on abbreviations, or have a grid shape that’s a little more closed off than I’d prefer… or it can be, like this one, a touch heavy on the proper names (hence the title). While I tend not to mind this as a solver–it’s often an opportunity to learn new things about interesting people–some folks are not a fan, and I get it. So please enjoy this one on the blog.
Seed entry here was 60-Across. Favorite clues: 39-Across for the fun fact and 35-Across for the silliness. If 26-Across is unfamiliar, please enjoy this (spoiler at link, obviously).
Happy solving, yall… hope you enjoy. Comments welcomed, as always.
So much to love here! Great clue for 39A (also, it’s totally true), and is there a better 11A speech than the one in Miracle?? Thanks for another really good one…
Glad you enjoyed. No strong feelings here regarding 39A (as one with no pets at all)…
good one thanks!
love 26A. i’ve never heard the term “jangle pop” though.
Oh man, jangle-pop is where I live…. or, I could say, is one of the 7 or 8 or 23 various musical subgenres that I could easily describe as where I live.
