Puzzle 168 – “Games People Play”
puz here / pdf here / solution here
Back at it again with a themeless. But first: last week, I really should have mentioned that I would be showing up with a crossword in USA Today for the second time. (Sorry for the omission… chalk it up to the busy-ness of a new school year. If you’re a subscriber, or if you’re a member over at Puzzle Society, you can still check out this past Wednesday’s puzzle–8/21–please enjoy.)
Seed entry for this one is the horizontal spanner at 37-Across. The title here most directly refers to the vertical spanner, 8-Down, I suppose… but it has musical echoes too. As a song title, I associate that phrase most closely with The Spinners, but as a lyric, it’s relevant to the seed entry through this chorus.
Favorite clue: 57-Across is pretty silly.
As ever, hope you enjoy. Comments welcomed. Happy solving, friends.
TY for another very good puzzle, and I really like the mention of Belinda Carlisle. (If you google her name and add “bathtub full of roses”, you’ll appreciate her multiple talents, lol!)
Thanks!
