Happy 2024, solvers! For the first Tuesday of the year, I got you–no surprises–a themeless puzzle that (look, I am who I am) leans a little hard on some reference points of a generation or so ago.
Okay, maybe two. But who’s counting.
Favorite clues here: 26-Down for sure, and definitely 57-Across, since it was a seed entry here. And I hope you dig 12-Down as much as I do, by which I mean, yeah, now you’re gonna go listen to all three of those on YouTube, right? I recommend doing just that.
I hope your new year is off to a great start… we got 52 more Tuesdays this year (it’s a leap year!), so that means 52 more puzzles coming on this site for sure.

Bottom left gave me trouble. Got a couple stuck wrong and I couldn’t remember 46D unfortunately.
If you couldn’t remember 46D, then… one might say… you did not do that.
Coincidentally just finished The Candy House yesterday. I really enjoyed it.

I was a fan too. I think I still like Goon Squad a little better, but I dug it a lot.
Another nice puzzle, and I liked the references to the Boleyn sisters and Nancy Reagan. Good stuff!
50-D and 54-D being so close together was a fun opportunity, yeah.
