Puzzle 126 – “Autumn Themeless”
puz here / pdf here / solution here
Before I get to any notes on this week’s puzzle, I’m happy to announce that last week, I made my print newspaper crossword debut: I constructed the LA Times puzzle that appeared this past Thursday. You can still check it out here.
No particularly special title this week, clearly, though it’s nice that it’s starting to feel like fall around here (some days), except when it doesn’t (stray warm snap days). This puzzle has a special origin, though, as it began when one of my classes was curious about how I construct a puzzle. I asked them for a couple of 13-letter seed entries; they gave me 22-Across and 45-Across, and after I played around with a grid for a while, this was the result. Like last week’s, clued a bit gently.
Hope yall enjoy. As always, comments are welcomed. Happy solving, friends.
Another fun puzzle. The gentle clueing can be a welcome confidence boost on an otherwise not-so-gentle day.
Congratulations on the LA Times debut!
Thanks! I’m pretty pleased with how the LAT puzzle turned out.
Not sure if it’s a coincidence or not, but 50A just released a pretty great new album last week! I’m partial to the song “The Rope”…
Ooh, I’m intrigued… firm believer here that All About Chemistry is one of the great undersung albums of its day.
Thanks!
Grats on LATimes
Sure thing!
Hope you had a chance to check it out too.
I liked your LAT debut, and congratulations!
Thanks so much!
