Puzzle 214 – “Hop to It”

I heard from a few folks that last week’s 64-worder was on the tough side. So I’ve eased things up a little bit with this one, which is still technically themeless (at least, I’m tagging it as themeless here) but really, as you’ll see, operates in that nebulous space between the themed puzzle and the themeless. The goal here was clean fill, but with some cluing that could still throw some mild curveballs.
Favorite clue: probably the 38-Across / 39-Across pair, just because the fortuitous pairing of those words enabled a reference to one of my favorite movies. Check it out if you’re unfamiliar.

Really nice. I never knew about 2-Down. “The Player” is definitely due for a re-watching.
Love that movie so much! It’s such a time capsule, and it’s aged pretty well at the same time.
