Themeless once again, friends. Seed entries here were 22-Across and 44-Across. The former is the source of this puzzle’s title, as can be seen here (recommended, but definitely a spoiler for that entry).

Exceptionally fun puzzle today, most likely due to the seed entries which are both long time loves. Good ol’ Rev^d Cherrycoke. I always think “Snow-Balls have flown their Arcs, starr’d the Sides of Outbuildings” whenever I see that title.

I read 44-A, gosh, close to 20 years ago now. But I remember thinking it was one of the best things I’d ever read on the topic of friendship, in TP’s usual humane way. I should revisit it.
