Puzzle 48 – “Don’t Go for Second Best”

I do love the grid shape of this one, the symmetry of the central divider and the single blocks near it in all directions. And–surprise, surprise–it’s themeless, and you get some music-centric clues here. The seeds here were the crossing of 23-Across and 5-Down (hence the title).
Favorite clues: two different kinds of silliness in 10-Down and 35-Down. I don’t write lots of punny question mark clues, but I like 51-Across.
