PUZZLE 217

Puzzle 217 – “And Then I See a Headline”

puz here / pdf here / solution here

This week I get to plug another upcoming puzzle of mine elsewhere: I’ve got the Apple News+ crossword this Friday. I’m really happy with how that one turned out: it’s themed, it’s asymmetrical, and it’s a touch tricky. Hope you dig.

But on the blog today, we’ve got a themeless. Seed entry here was 22-Across… but the title is a line from this fantastic bit of work (spoiler at link) referenced in 29-Down. (Come to think of it, I do recall seeing a headline about the whole 51-Across thing too…) Favorite clue? Yeah, it’s 18-Across. Musical clue of the week: 43-Across.

As ever, comments are welcomed here. Hope you enjoy. Happy solving, friends.

  1. Thanks for introducing me to 22-Across and to the O’Hara poem! And congratulations on being a Boswords finalist back on the 27th!

  2. I hadn’t heard the name of the genre in 22A – but it sure fits that aesthetic! Some great long answers in here, and fun cluing as always! I’m not an Apple News guy, but your upcoming puzzle sounds fun…

  3. I’ve been to 49D!

  4. As usual, your puzzles contain interesting trivia. The factoids about the Alamo & Pee Wee and Hello Kitty are very cool!!!

  5. good one thanks!
